Living with a disability, serious injury, or illness can be extremely challenging and a loved one with these difficulties should not have to face it alone. The Acute Rehab Center at Sumter Regional Hospital wants you to know we are here to help. We provide full-range, 24-hour acute rehabilitative services for our clients in a warm and compassionate environment. Our Mission The Rehab Center at Sumter Regional is organized around one basic principle: we put all our skills to work to support you in your effort to attain the highest possible degree of independence. As a patient, you will receive highly individualized treatment designed to achieve certain goals. This means you will become part of a total team effort. We measure our success by your ability to leave our rehabilitation center prepared to meet the challenges of independent daily living. Our comprehensive rehabilitative services help clients to improve functional mobility and achieve more control in their lives. Working together, we can overcome much of the following:  Balance and coordination impairments.Difficulty with daily activities such as eating, grooming, dressing, bathing, and homemaking.Memory problems, judgment difficulties, swallowing dysfunctions, speech and language problems.Inability to work or function due to physical impairments.Weakness or limited motion in arms, legs, and torso. We accept patients that meet the following criteria:Patient must require physical and Occupational Therapy.We also have available a Speech Therapist, Psychologist, Social Worker and skilled nurses. Potential for improved function.Need for continued medical management and 24-hour nursing care.An identified discharge plan in place following rehab.Clients and their families are willing to work with the Rehab Center's team throughout the rehabilitation process.Physician has seen the client within the last 30 days.Admission to �The Acute Rehab Center� Before a patient is admitted to the Acute Rehab Center, clients are carefully assessed to determine eligibility. The Acute Rehab Center welcomes referrals from physicians, social workers, insurance representatives, case managers, even patients, and their families. This personal and comprehensive assessment is free and can be conducted at home or in the hospital by our admissions coordinator. The Acute Rehab Center at Sumter Regional Hospital is the only inpatient rehab center in southwest Georgia that has been accredited by CARF (The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) and JCAHO (The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations).
