NAME: Sherrill House OCCUPATION: Board Chairman, Americus and Sumter County Chamber of Commerce HOMETOWN: Americus, Ga. WHY I'M GOING TO SUMTER REGIONAL: I love this community and have a renewed sense of appreciation for my fellow citizens since the Tornado of March 1, 2007. If I have medical needs, I will use Sumter Regional Hospital-East. It is close in proximity to my home, and it is comforting to know many of the doctors, nurses, and other staff persons who work there. More importantly, even though Sumter Regional Hospital was completely destroyed by the tornado, I have seen an "indestructible spirit" among the hospital's employees. In the months since the devastating storm, the SRH staff has sacrificially served our community, no matter the personal inconvenience of working in unfamiliar surroundings nor the extra time, energy and expense of travelling out of town to perform surgeries, deliver babies, etc. What I have seen in these dedicated medical professionals has solidified my loyalty and support for them and the hospital where they will be employed.
